White Breasted Kingfisher in Harisiddhi

The White Breasted Kingfisher is one of the birds that won't  fail to catch your attention and can be spotted regulary arround Harisiddhi. The bird has a brilliant turquoise blue back with a deep chocolate-brown head, neck and under parts, a long bright red ‘kingfisher-like’ bill and the white front catches immediate attention. The White Breasted Kingfisher fishes small fish from the small rivers that float through the valley. It also eats insects. The Kingfisher in Harishidi is a bit in trouble because of new housing project. The rivers are made straight with high stone construction so it slowly looses its habitat to bread and hide on tranches to fish.
